Marine Surveys

What Goes Into a Survey?

What makes a survey? A survey of your vessel is an overview of the vessel’s size, components, accommodations, electrical systems, drivetrain and ensure that American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards are met. Insurance companies require surveys to receive policies and buyers love to see a recent survey to ensure the vessel is up to par by observation of its components and current condition. We meticulously inspect all observable areas of the vessel with the owner present. We will give our findings along with an assessment of the current value of the vessel to the owner or potential buyer.

We are also able to oil analysis of the engine and contract local riggers to inspect any size of mast as add-on services.

About Us

We started our journey back in 2006 as a deckhand on my father’s commercial fishing vessel in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Within days, I knew I was hooked on fishing. I spent the next several summers working for my father before it was time to venture on my own. At 19, I made it to captain’s chair and was one of the youngest captains in Bristol Bay. I eventually grew out of that boat and purchased a new vessel in 2016. It quickly taught me a whole slew of new skills since I did a majority of the wiring myself and I kept up that desire to keep learning more. Whether its plumbing, tearing apart an engine, rebuilding jets, electrical, or even woodwork, nothing was too large for me to attempt and look for resources where I can gain new knowledge. I heavily scrutinize my boat to ensure it is always preforming at the highest level possible and always believe in a “no stone goes unturned” mentality.

I’ve continued my education thru American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) courses and I’m planning in the near future to start my accreditation through Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS).
